Pubs

Jersey has lots of pubs selling great grub, from country hostelries to seaside taverns.

The good old pub favourites, from meat pies to scampi and chips, will always go down well with a pint from Jersey’s own brewery.

But as you’re in Jersey, why not choose something local from the menu? One of Jersey’s traditional dishes is bean crock, a slowly cooked casserole made from a mixture of beans, onions, carrots and pork, with a delicious gravy.

Moules frîtes will definitely make you feel as if you’re on holiday, and look out for the catch of the day, the freshest tastiest seafood, from mackerel to sea bass and plaice to scallops.

If real ale is your thing there are several bars you will want to be leaning against. The Lamplighter and The Prince of Wales in town offer a selection of guest beers all year round with the Prince of Wales offering a rare bonus in St Helier of a secluded outside area. Out of town, The Old Smuggler’s Inn at Ouaisnè is an award winning CAMRA pub. There is also an extremely popular and successful Real Ale festival organised every year by the local branch of CAMRA. See our Annual Events page for more details of this.
