Getting around

Jersey is only nine miles by five but there’s a lot of roads and lanes to get around in a small amount of space.

There are a curious number of high performance cars on the road in Jersey given that the maximum speed limit is 40 miles per hour. Altogether there were 104,537 cars registered at the end of 2006.

Public transport is provided by the publicly subsidised Connex service and for the more energetic, health-conscious or eco-friendly islanders a network of “green lanes” provides a pleasant set of walking and cycling routes around the island including a road free journey from Corbiere to St Helier following the Railway Walk and then the seafront around St Aubin’s Bay.
