Out of town shopping offers a change of scenery and less hassle parking.
Les Quennevais and Red Houses
In the west of the Island at Les Quennevais in St Brelade there is a popular precinct with banks and food stores alongside some unusual clothes and craft shops, with plenty of parking and several cafes. Just down the road there is also a Co-op, a Marks and Spencers with a food hall, household goods and a clothes shop.
St Aubin’s
Located in a nearby parish is the pretty harbour village of St Aubin. Boasting a whole variety of shops, from small fashion boutiques to a supermarket, the area is extremely popular, not only for its shopping, bars and restaurants but also for its nautical shops and art gallery. It can sometimes be a problem finding somewhere to park, but there are spaces along Le Boulevard, the harbour and by the police station. There is also a regular bus service from the Airport and St Helier.
Gorey
At the opposite end of the Island is picturesque Gorey. Sitting under the impressive backdrop of Mont Orgueil Castle, this is a charming part of the Island in which to browse the numerous shops. With shops selling everything from ice creams to locally knitted jumpers and jewellery, the area is definitely worth a visit. There are various restaurants and bars and a reasonable amount of parking as well as a regular bus service from town.
Garden Centres
The Island’s garden centres are also worth mentioning as not only do they sell a huge array of plants and shrubs but a large variety of goods for the home as well as books, art items and jewellery. St Peter’s Garden Centre is located along the airport road while Ransoms Garden Centre is just up the hill from Gorey, on Grande Route de Faldouet. There are plenty of car parking spaces at both garden centres and both are on bus routes, making them excellent places to visit.
There are an increasing number of supermarkets also to be found in the parishes quite often on the site of petrol stations.
