A BABY grey seal was rescued from rocks beneath Corbière lighthouse yesterday afternoon after being found stranded there without its mother.
Believed to be between three and seven days old, the pup, which could not yet swim, was in danger of drowning on the high tide if it had remained alone.
Members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue were alerted of its presence on the rocks at around 10.30 am by painters working at the lighthouse who spotted it as the tide receded.
Arrangements are being made for the seal pup to be flown or shipped to the UK so that it could be taken to an RSPCA rescue centre.
