DEVELOPERS say that the £150m J1 scheme is ahead of the Waterfront in the race for prime office space and that work could start next year.
After Planning gave the Broad Street scheme approval on Friday, developers C Le Masurier Ltd say work could begin in 2012.
And managing director Brian McCarthy says that their scheme is ahead of the Waterfront in the race to secure big tenants and start work.
‘We have got vacant possession of 60% of our site and we can start work immediately,’ he said.
‘And we have Planning consent, they have not. I would say that we are in a more advanced position.’

OK McCarthy, if your crew are set for an immediate start, fire the starting gun. No posturing, just go, go go!

They are trying to scare off the Esplanade Quarter boys.
Build both of them and they will probably sink together.
But the States need the Esplanade Quarter to keep Liberty Wharf alive.

‘keep Liberty Wharf alive’ means stop something nearly dead dying.
It is a totally pointless development, cold and mostly empty.

You should be able to beat the other scheme to the finish line. Anything the states sticks its fingers in tends to end up with lots of problems. I hope you take as much of the buiness away from the esplande quarter as possible. If you do I’ll be pleased.
