How the Water’s Edge Hotel could look if the developers get planning permission for self-catering apartments
How the Water’s Edge Hotel could look if the developers get planning permission for self-catering apartments

THE owners of the Water’s Edge Hotel have unveiled new plans to knock down part of the Bouley Bay establishment.

They want to convert the entire building into 25 self-catering apartments, with a fitness centre and car park. Under the proposal, the dive centre would undergo a refurbishment but would remain part of the complex.

In 2009 Water’s Edge Holdings Ltd invited feedback from the public over its plan to demolish the hotel and the Black Dog pub to make way for 24 flats.

The popular drinking spot will avoid the wrecker’s ball if the Planning department gives the proposal the go-ahead but would be converted into a new-look bar and restaurant.

Neither gorgeous or characteristic is it…? the question must also be asked why they might expect to have self catering units be the subject of a change of use…the original permission was for Tourism…otherwise we could all ask for self catering initially to get round the law then ask for a change…it should not be allowed to make fools of planning and the law.

You’ve got to be kidding me. when will they realise that people come here for the beauty of the island and if they build all over it we will lose that and thus no more people coming here.

If anything I agree with .4

You bet, farmers have been doing similar for years with their sheds and staff accommodation! Build a big shed or staff accommodation just before you give up farming then get change use after you give up, then milk it like a Jersey cow!

    old jersey girl

People who come here for the beauty of Jersey, will be finding it more difficult to locate any.
I walked to Gorey today,I live in Grouville, the sun was shining a bit cold but bracing, past the common and along the sea walk to Gorey castle, lovely, then you reach where the Barbecue place was, I can imagine what will be going up there!! probably as bad as those glass fronted places next door, the ones for sale or to let, how they expect to sell those eyesores to anyone, they would have to have plenty money and no taste.
Times they are a changing!!,and certainly not for the better.

    the thin wallet

looking at the photo, it does not look that bad , better than the clapped out buildings that are there now .
the black dog pub is quite nice, on hill climb days , can have a nice day out and go home on the bus after a few pints .
iwas wondering what paul(5) was on about the pumps , does it pump efflulant in to the sea? as it is today?
those who come to jersey to race on the hill may want to stay here , rent a apartment, have a good time and bring more people next time .
