AN internet gaming company has made the first application for an e-gaming licence in Jersey.

Playtech, an e-gaming software development firm, wants a ‘remote gambling’ licence in Jersey.

Wayne Gallichan, director of Jersey Enterprise, said that it was the first official request for a licence under laws introduced in 2008.

The news comes as a boost for Jersey as it attempts to cash in on the multi-million pound industry.

The Island’s efforts have been hampered because Jersey-licensed companies are banned from advertising in the UK.
