Treasure found in Jersey field
Saturday 4th February 2012, 3:00PM GMT.
Metal detectorists Reg Mead and Richard Miles have found a hoard of coins dating back to the time of Julius Caesar
A 2,000-YEAR-OLD hoard of gold and silver Celtic coins has been unearthed in a Jersey field.
The two men who found it with metal detectors after a 30-year hunt are keeping the location of their treasure a closely guarded secret.
Reg Mead and Richard Miles believe that there are more coins just below the surface of the field and plan to resume the hunt.
So far, around 65 coins from the middle of the first century BC have been discovered.

Great find lads, I know you are both very honest and professional who would have obtained permission from the field owner before detecting, as I know all members of the detecting club adhere to strict rules in Jersey. Well done, another part of our history revealed so has we can all enjoy viewing once in the museum. ( lucky buggers )
