IMAGES from the series of Jersey-sponsored holographic portraits of the Queen will go on display at Mont Orgueil castle for the first time in May as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Jersey Heritage, who commissioned the £150,000 work called Equanimity, which is the first holographic image of a living monarch, have arranged for the 12 images to be on display from Thursday, 24 May until the end of the year.

Since light artist Chris Levine and holographer Rob Munday created the portrait, this piece of art and others derived from it have achieved world-wide fame.

Among the portraits which will be in the exhibition will be Lightness of Being, which shows the Queen when she closed her eyes for a brief moment during the photo shoot.

This one looks a bit dodgy – has anyone asked the Queen her opinion? I personally wouldn’t one looking like the mortician had been in attendance! Is this some kind of sick joke?

Quite the most beautiful image of the Queen I’ve seen. I saw it published in India last week to much praise. Superb.

A beautiful moment captured in 3D by the artist Chris Levine. Out of all the images ever taken of the Queen this is unique.

In fact the portraits were created by portrait holographer Rob Munday and Chris Levine as a joint collaberation. The image of the Queen with her eyes closed was shot by Nina Duncan, the photographer brought in to record the event.

Actually Chris Levine was given the commission by the client so he gets the artistic credit. Rob Munday supplied a technical service along with Jeffrey Robb (who also did some 3D production work). Does Damien Hirst physically make his art? Because he doesn’t, does that mean it is not his art?
