EMMERDALE actor and Dancing on Ice winner Matthew Wolfenden will be this year’s Mr Battle of Flowers.

The 32-year-old, who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV farming soap, will escort Miss Battle of Flowers Rebecca Houzé – the daughter of a farmer from St Ouen – when she takes centre stage at this year’s parades on 9 and 10 August.

The actor has been part of the Emmerdale cast for six years but became a household name when he and his ice partner Nina Ulanova won this year’s series of Dancing on Ice in March.

Battle of Flowers Association chairman Tony Perkins said he was ‘more than delighted’ that Mr Wolfenden had accepted the role of Mr Battle.
