Jersey cyclists keen to book for 2013 Tour

JERSEY cyclists are already waiting to book ferry tickets to St Malo after it was announced that the Tour de France will be coming to the city.
Next year’s event – the 100th Tour de France – will begin on the French island of Corsica on 29 June and end with an evening finish on the Champs-Elysees in Paris on 21 July, with the riders having cycled 3,360km.
And during the tenth stage of the race on 9 July, the competitors will cycle 193km from St Gildas des Bois in the Loire to St Malo – just a one-hour ferry journey from Jersey.
Tony Moffa, vice president of Velo Sport Jersey, said: ‘There is already a lot of interest in it and people are already saying that as soon as the Condor timetable is published they are going to make a block booking.
