Thrown on the scrapheap on Christmas Eve

Twelve members of staff at the scrap metal firm Picot and Rouillé are to lose their jobs
TWELVE Islanders at a family-owned scrap metal company are facing a bleak Christmas after being told their last working day will be 24 December.
Most of the employees at Picot and Rouillé have been told they will not be taken on by Hunts Jersey – the firm awarded a contract to deal with the States scrap metal.
According to managers only one of the existing work-force has been invited for a second interview with the new company, but the other 11, some of whom have been with the firm for 20 years or more, will work their last day on Christmas Eve.

It’s sad to see the end of this company, to me, they have all ways acted in a courteous and efficient manner. I hope they can set up in some way somewhere else.

yes a sad day, for those workers being shown the door.
did anyone see the advert for the new positions with the new firm?
or is it a done deal?
those looking for car parts , will have to find a mate with a computer and shop online . i will only be sending steel and worthless scrap to the new site , and take my salvage elsewhere .
did not bother before , just sent the lot through the fragmenter.

That’s right. I will be storing any old cars and lorries in my attic and kitchen cupboards from now on.
