A FORMER Animals Shelter employee has won an unfair dismissal claim against the JSPCA, following an incident with the chief executive that left her ‘shaking and in tears’.

Claire Hawkins told a Jersey Employment Tribunal hearing in November that JSPCA chief executive Stephen Coleman grabbed her arm and pulled her away in front of members of the public during an argument.

Tempers flared when she asked about the charity’s employee accommodation and was told she would not be allocated a bedsit, the tribunal heard.

The JSPCA has been ordered to pay Miss Hawkins £2,169 in compensation for unfair dismissal and a further £723 to cover her suspension without pay, which was contrary to company policy.
