Back on dry land after 28,022 miles

AFTER more than 80 days at sea, British sailor Alex Thomson has claimed third place in the 2012-2013 Vendée Globe solo non-stop around-the-world race.

And the yachtsman – whose father and stepmother live in St Clement – has said that he wants to do it all again.

Mr Thomson (38) crossed the finishing line at Les Sables d’Olonne in France early this morning in his 60-ft boat, Hugo Boss, after covering 28,022 miles in the world’s toughest and most dangerous solo yacht race.
