NEW Year’s military honours have been awarded to a Jersey-born Flight-Lieutenant for his security role during the London Olympics.

Nick Thorne was awarded an Air Officer Commanding 1 (air combat) Group’s Commendation for his contribution to counter-terrorism operations at last summer’s Games.

A recommendation for the honour was made soon after the end of the Olympics in recognition of his ‘exceptional efforts in the delivery of superior-quality training and exercises’.
