A FIRE caused major damage to a flat in St Helier on Sunday afternoon, but no one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters received a call just before 2 pm to say that a person was thought to be trapped inside their home which was on fire.

Fire and Rescue Service crew commander Paul McGrath said that two fire trucks were sent to the scene. The fire was quickly put out and a search was made to establish that noone was inside the flat.
