New Members have no say in the Budget

Monday 24th October 2011, 3:00PM BST.

From Richard Robinson.
AS a third generation 57-year-old Jerseyman, I have finally decided to start to make my thoughts known. Unfortunately for you and your readers, you may hear much more from me, going forward.

Today’s issue is the fact that, yet again, the NEW Members of the States of Jersey (I believe this may be 16 people – which I calculate to be more than 30% of the 51 Members) will have their hands tied as to what they can or cannot do for, at least, the next year, due to the fact that they will have no say in the Budget debate.
Is this logical, sensible, or even within the bounds of economic and financial prudence?

Ridiculous state of affairs, voted out should mean exactly that, the people who are voted out should take no part in any States business, they have been voted out by a democratic system because they failed to deliver in the first place, they have had their kick at the ball, goodby.
