Well done to all. Now down to some serious local yokel business. Ladies & gentlemen man your tractors!

Congratulations Pip Clement (Jan 2011)”Philip Bailhache has never faced the electorate” (minor error there, Teen C Pimpl) “and has no chance of being elected” (yes, well). Other than that, perfectly accurate as usual, Pip:):)

Overall a very good result.
Most of the newcomers are professional people or run their own businesses. Hopefully the new house will be better equiped to deal with the economic problems now facing Jersey.

Glad to See Cohen has paid the price for Portelet, thought the letters in the JEP from Walker and Co. Did not help him at all, in fact, it probably convinced people not to vote for him !
Overall, I thought it was a very interesting election with quite a few surprises, let’s hope that people will become more interested in politics and the community they live in as a result of the ” General Election” way of voting.
Well done to everybody who voted.
Well done Steve Pallett!
Now stay in the Parish please!
Good luck JEP in analysing the results. What a mish-mash. By and large “The Establishment” has held its own, with exceptions. Still disturbing that 6,400 people voted for a man who shows nothing but contempt for the law to be a lawmaker. Even deducting 1,300 who may have voted accidentally (I call it “The Whitworth Factor”), there are over 5,000 out there who think Community Service is only for wimps.
As for any candidate who managed to poll less than 3,000, anyone disagree now that we should have candidate deposits?

Well Ph’lip you said the States are badly in need of reform, here’s your chance!
Stand for Chief Minister, you will carry more ‘kudos’ in the ‘big wide world’ being a Sir.
Please, please choose educated people to be Ministers and NOT a load of ‘half witted yes men’ and ‘fall guys’ as we have seen in the past.
Dr. Roy Le Herissier would make a good Assistant Chief Minister.

Congratulations to Montford Tadier & Steve Pallett

Good to see cohen not elected, will give him time to consider why and how he turned jersey from a stunning island to a dandara monstrocity!
Gorst comes second in the senatorials which is not surprising as holding the elections on a week day makes it harder for those with a job to vote. Henry Coutanche tabled a report in the states some years ago to allow voting at the weekend to improve turnout which seems blindingly obvious to anyone as even the French vote on a Sunday. But not here where we just complain about apathy and carry on as we are while people are closed out at 8pm who want to vote.
One good result – we will be spared the histrionics of the drama queen that is Mr Syvret.
well freddie, the 2 words sow and reap spring to mind!
Odd bunch of results, but how can we expect the States to function when the two Pitmans and Southern, who managed about 2,200 votes between them, have same voting rights as Bailhache, Gorst and Le Gresley (with nearly 50,000 votes).
We need to sort out the oppressive and disproportionate power of the deputies if we are to have functional government.
Pleased to see the serial loser Nick le Cornu didn’t get in though!
7. Mike, agree

Good to finally see the back of Syvret.
Maybe he will now get a job and get on with life. Also good to see Freddie go as even he was starting to realise his big failings over his Planning decisions and needed to go
Report abuse
No more Cohen favoritism towards Dandara and his beloved Uk architects, no more excuses.
Delighted to see Syvret loosing too.
How can you break the law, make a fuss about it, cost tax payer 1/2 a million and still can’t manage to do his community service. What a dreamer/looser …
At least there is sens of justice somewhere in the air !
Well done Sir Philip Bailhache – an obvious choice for Chief Minister.
I am so glad Stuart Syvret didn’t get in, as he has done so much damage to the island’s reputation.
The good news about Cohen not being re elected is not just that he is paying for the monstrosities that he has allowed to be erected at the expense of the beauty of our island, but it is also a strong warning that any more bad decisions, and they too could be out next election time too.
Well done to all the electorate that voted in Jersey’s first general election. Congratulations to all the candidates that have had a mandate by the public and have been voted into office.
The electorate have spoken and the likes of EX Senator Freddie Cohen and the policies he has pursued for the island have thankfully now come to an end.
I certainly hope that we have a far greater calibre of politician that can make decisions on our behalf now.
We will see.
#11 Are those who work during the week really in the office 8am to 8pm with bosses so hideous they won’t be allowed to leave in time to vote?
Or maybe they are too lazy to walk to their nearest post box and post their vote?
#17 Slight mistake, surely what you mean is that Syvret ‘got caught’, the others haven’t (yet).
Can we please please reform the states. Deputies although should remain in the states and be able to vote should not have any power.
No ‘deputy’ should be allowed to run a department aka James Reed. 800 votes (less than one percent!) and he is responsible for Education Sport and Culture with a massive budget and wild ideas.
Anybody with any responsibility for a department must have an island wide mandate.
Very suprised Tadier got him, given he is so anti-Jersey. Working with outsiders to bring down the biggest employment industry in the island. Tadier is ANTI-JERSEY. He is no better than Syvret.
Stuart Syvret will return!!
Just look at the votes he had in St Helier! Just a few behind Lyndon Farnham!! in front of Cohen and Colley!! and that with all the ‘bad publicity’ he regularly gets from the media!!
It was through Stuart Syvret that we know of the child abuse that went on.
People who say this shows Jersey in a ‘bad light’ or as we heard on national TV ‘trying to shaft Jersey’ all these people who agree with this must also be the same people who believe in cover-ups!
Now, any person who believes in covering up child abuse are as bad as the abusers.
So Stuart carry on with your case go to Europe with it and then all will be revealed, then maybe an OBE, no a CBE!
Harry.
