AN Olympic dream has come true for volleyball line judge Deirdre de Rue.

After a long vetting process she has finally received the letter confirming her place as one of 26 national technical officers in the sport for London 2012.

The news means that the 46-year-old will oversee several matches over the three Olympic weeks, between 23 July and 13 August.

De Rue said: ‘I’m still in a bit of a daze really. Everybody kept telling me “you’ll be fine, you’ll get in” but I’ve tried not to get too excited about the whole thing. I didn’t want to consider it until I had the letter. Now it’s come and it still hasn’t sunk in. I’m lost for words.’
