JERSEYMAN Peter Vincenti’s Carling Cup run is over but the midfielder insists he and his Aldershot team-mates can hold their heads high after a good performance against Premiership champions Manchester United last night.

Vincenti played 72 minutes of a 3-0 defeat at the EBB Stadium and the League Two player was happy with his own and his team’s performance.

‘It was a fantastic night and I really enjoyed it,’ said Vincenti this morning.
‘United paid us a big compliment by fielding a strong team of players who have won medals in Europe as well as in the Premiership and cup competitions in England.

‘I certainly learned a lot; United’s movement with and without the ball was unbelievable. They are a team of top class players and my team mates and I can only learn from the experience and we will all look to take what we have learned and put that into our own games.’
