Big plans to develop cycling in the Island

An indoor cycling facility is on Jersey Cycling president Martin Hebden’s wish list
AN indoor cycling centre and a bmx track could be built in the Island if Jersey Cycling can attract financial support for the facilities.
The association has just announced its new president as Martin Hebden along with big plans which also include employing a development officer, performance director or highly qualified coach.
The news comes as Jersey Cycling, as it is now known rather than the JCA, aims to establish itself as an effective governing body for the sport in the Island.
Although the dream of building an indoor velodrome is a long term ambition, the bmx facility could happen sooner rather than later with locations already being explored.

2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
Sounds like a good idea, cycling is already very big in France and other parts of Europe, and I’m surprised it’s not really caught on here.
