Jerseyman Matt Banahan has not been named in the final 22-man rugby squad squad to play in Saturday’s Calcutta Cup showdown with Scotland.

England’s interim head coach Stuart Lancaster will name at least eight uncapped players in the squad to be named on Thursday morning.

Lancaster has cut the training squad from 32 to 24 players. Jerseyman Matt Banahan, reintroduced into the squad over the weekend was released along with Bath team-mate Lee Mears, Wasps scrum-half Joe Simpson, Northampton flanker Calum Clark, Dave Attwood, Alex Goode, Thomas Waldrom and David Wilson.
