JERSEY’S Liz Cann put in a five-star showing at the English National Badminton Championships to claim a fistful of titles – and now she’s ready to turn up the heat in the race to London 2012.

The 32-year-old erased last year’s unhappy memories of a shock first-round exit by comfortably seeing off eighth seed Kate Robertshaw to claim a fifth career National title, taking the match 21-19, 21-17 at the Bolton Arena.

No 1 seed Cann was rarely troubled on route to victory – although she did have to recover from a set down in the semi-finals to third seed and training partner Sarah Walker before chalking up a hard-fought 21-23, 21-18, 21-9 win.
