Four too young for San Marino!
Tuesday 6th November 2012, 2:15PM GMT.
It had already been announced that Jay Giles would be too young to represent England in San Marino
FOUR teenagers used by Jersey to represent England in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday are ineligible to play in the opening qualifier of the Uefa Regions’ Cup in San Marino next March.
Jersey manager Craig Culkin was aware of the fact and he says that he is playing youngsters as part of their development ahead of the 2015 Island Games in Jersey.
Jay Giles, Jamie Mourant, Matt Rondel and Charlie Petulla will not have reached the qualifying age of 19 before the tournament starts in San Marino, although Petulla would be eligible for the second game as it falls on his 19th birthday.
Jersey captain Stuart André will also miss out due to travelling which leaves at least five places open for players to compete for.
