INTER-Island club cricket matches will be few and far between next summer following the folding of the Investec Channel Islands League.
The Guernsey Cricket Board, who handle the sponsorship, have decided to go their own way in terms of providing a better standard of weekend cricket for their players by way of a new four-team super league next summer and more regular island representative matches.
Jersey Cricket Board chairman Ward Jenner said: ‘We’ve not had much option in this matter, Guernsey have made their decision and we have to fall in line. Unfortunately there have been too many mismatches and that has not helped either island. It’s also been much more expensive for the Jersey teams as well because Guernsey travelled by boat while the Jersey teams had to go by plane.’
