LES QUENNEVAIS followed up Tuesday’s Year-10 Secondary Schools’ Cup final victory against De La Salle by winning the Year-11 final yesterday 2-1 against the same opponents.

But the hosts’ victory celebrations at Springfield were muted as midfielder Ryan Couilliard was later taken by ambulance to hospital suffering from ligament damage.

De La Salle goalscorer Iain Meiklejohn also went to hospital after a clash of heads while Scott McClurg, who was involved in the collision, played on with a bandaged head.

Les Quennevais took advantage of the strong wind blowing down the pitch to lead 2-1 and they defended well collectively to keep De La Salle at bay in the second half.
