ST PAUL’S maintained their title aspirations following an impressive 3-0 defeat of champions Jersey Scottish at Clos des Pauvres in St Saviour on Saturday.

Before a disappointing crowd of around 80, St Paul’s were the more clinical in front of goal and the win lifted them to the top of the Premiership table above Scottish by a mere goal on goal-difference.

Junior Jay Giles and Jack Cannon, a penalty kick, gave the Saints a two-goal cushion they deserved at the interval and a late goal from captain Luke Watson rounded off a merited victory on a soft and slippery surface.

Pre-match Saints manager Martin Cassidy felt his team had the better fire power and so it proved on an off-day for Scottish as their ten-game winning run was ended by opponents who have now won eight in a row.
