JERSEY Cycling has taken its first steps towards announcing a team for the Bermuda 2013 Island Games.

The association has named a preliminary squad for the event, which takes place on 13-19 July, with the final selection to be made on 2 April.

Mountain biking will not be represented which leaves ten cyclists vying for seven places on the team.

With two ladies’ places available and only two ladies named, it seems certain that, should they remain injury free, Sue Townsend and Kim Ashton – both medallists in 2011 – will again be flying the flag for Jersey.

Eight men are in the running for the remaining five places. They are Richard Tanguy, Greg Mansell, Robin Ovenden, Ben Le Brocq, Ryan O’Shea, Chris Spence, Andy Hamon and Nick Le Cocq.
