FORMER Island Games medallist Lauryn Thérin will ride for the Maxgearettes race cycling team this year.

The 26-year-old trained hard over the winter in the hope of finding a women’s team to ride for in 2013 and her dedication and hard work has paid off.

Thérin, who is based in Manchester where is employed as a recreation education officer for British cycling, is delighted to have joined Maxgear.

The former British Bobsleigh champion, who represented Jersey in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games discus final, said: ‘Maxgear were looking for a sprinter for their road team and because I won a team sprint silver medal at the British National Track Cycling Championship, that was the reason I was asked to join them.’
