Cann targets Glasgow 2014 – with Jersey

JERSEY’S Elizabeth Cann may have lost her national badminton women’s singles title, but she has ruled out retirement and insists representing Jersey at the Commonwealth Games is her target.
The 33-year-old retired in her quarter-final against eventual beaten finalist Fontaine Chapman with a back complaint while trailing 23-21 and 15-9 in the second set.
But the five-time national champion – once ranked as high as 27th in the world – insisted she is need of rest if she is to make it to Glasgow next year.
‘I’m not saying I’m going to retire, but I just have to look after my body first and then make a decision,’ she said.
