Plenty to smile about at Island swimming championships

Tigers’ Emily Bashforth enjoyed a great day in the KPMG JASA Island swimming championships at Haute Vallée yesterday, winning the 100m back, 50m fly and 400m and 100m freestyle titles.
Tom Gallichan won three titles, leaving the 400m free to Tigers’ team-mate Cameron Donaldson.
Held in a new format, championship records were set by Tigers’ Beth Cumming and Giovanni Guarino in the 200m breast-stroke events.
In the junior section Nathan Corrigan won all five events, with Emily Hallam taking the back, fly and 100 free titles and Isabel Atherley the backstroke and Bethan Hamon the 400 free.
The new 25m and 50m development races were dominated by the Jersey Swimming Club’s Emilie Whitewood and Elliot Evans.
