Jersey will not be sending an athletics team to the Jeux des Iles this year
JERSEY will not have any track and field athletes at this year’s Jeux des Iles.
There will, however, still be Island participation in six other sports, with Jersey sending 28 competitors to Corsica in May.
A clash of dates means that Jersey, who have done well in terms of athletics medals over the years – many of them gold – at this ‘youth Island Games’ will be looking for swimming, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, judo and sailing competitors to place them high in the final table.
The Island side will be comprised of six gymnasts, two judo players, six swimmers, four tennis players, six table tennis players and four sailors.
The team will depart on Tuesday 21 May and return on Saturday 25 May.
