ISLAND squash player Sarah Taylor finished runner up in the National Over-35 Squash Championships held last week in Manchester.

Seeded third/fourth, Taylor produced an inspired performance to beat second seed and Suffolk number one Katie Lawrence 3-1 in their semi-final encounter, but the final proved one step too far for the NatWest Island Games gold medallist.

Up against Laura Mylotte of Ireland who had won the previous two over-35 titles, Taylor played well, but couldn’t prevent her opponent from running away with a 3-0 victory.

It is, nonetheless, a fantastic achievement for the Islander, who is now looking ahead to representing Jersey at the squash inter-insular in Guernsey on 9 March.
