Elliot Dorey
Jersey athlete Elliot Dorey was in sparkling form at the England Athletics Youth Indoor Championships at the weekend, winning gold in the U20 men’s 1500 metres.
His time of 3.56.23 minutes was enough to beat Scott Halstead by just under a second and to see him crowned U20 champion.
Dorey’s father Chris said: ‘Elliot’s been flying in training – he’s just got a new coach and it’s a great achievement for him.’
The young distance runner was not the only local success story at the championships for under 20, under 17 and under 15 athletes, held in Birmingham, three other Islanders placing in the top three in their events.
