Sport Centres

There are two municipal sports centres in the Island.

Fort Regent Leisure Centre hosts the Island’s biggest sports events and is a significant sports training arena. It’s built on the site of a 19th century fortification overlooking St Helier and the bay surrounding Elizabeth Castle.

After climbing the stone steps from Pier Road, you may well feel you’ve done enough exercise for the day, but for those who are feeling energetic amongst us, the fort contains a comprehensive range of sporting activities for all ages.

Fort Regent is also home to the Schools Instrumental Service and hosts numerous shows in the evenings ranging from school orchestras to Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Les Quennevais Sports Centre & Playing Fields is a purpose-built complex in St Brelade which allows for some serious sport and well deserved relaxation.

An 8 lane, 25 metre swimming pool with learner pool and water spa is the main event at Les Quennevais sports centre. Add to this two squash courts, weights and fitness rooms, an all pupose sports hall, a dance studio and a health suite and you have a full day’s health and sporting activities all in one place.

And that’s before you step outside. Here you have an outside sports area with plenty of more activities available including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey, netball cycling and croquet. Bowls is also particularly popular as is petanque.

Both sports centres include cafes both of which sell a surprising array of unhealthy foods.
